Vibrant Works
Paintings by Sandy Parisky
Exhibit runs June 3rd through August 15th
June 3rd will feature the art exhibition opening of Vibrant Works by Sandy Parisky in the Aetna Gallery, as part of the First Thursday Program at Connecticut Landmarks' Butler-McCook House & Garden. Vibrant Works features landscapes and still-life compositions that reflect his interest in the play of light, color and shadows. Parisky notes he is "continually challenged and inspired by the subject matter at hand, be it a landscape or the geometric shapes and textures in still-life painting." Like many plein-air painters, he paints outdoors to capture the moment -some while visiting Italy, Scandinavia, Puerto Rico and the Yucatan. Several paintings in the exhibit are from recent trips to Maine, New Mexico and Ontario as well as landscape and still-life works painted over the last three years.
Parisky lives in downtown Hartford and has an art studio in the city's historic Parkville neighborhood. He has a graduate degree in architecture and urban design, and has studied painting and drawing, most recently attending watercolor workshops in New Mexico with Pamona Hellenbeck, pastel workshops in the Berkshires and in Maine with Frank Federico and workshops with Kristine Sullivan, an expressionist painter. Parisky's work has been shown in the Berkshires and across Connecticut. For more information, visit www.sanfordparisky.com.
